Bayer Leverkusen confirm that Edmond Tapsoba has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the club until 2031.

The Burkinabè defender has featured 41 times for Die Werkself in 2025/26 and has established himself as one of Leverkusen’s consistent performers, playing a key role in their 2023/24 Bundesliga and DFB Pokal winning campaign.

“Over the past six-and-a-half years, Edmond Tapsoba has become a key player and one of the best defenders in the Bundesliga performing at a top level,” said Managing Director of Sport Simon Rolfes.

“He was an anchor in our double-winning team, making a huge personal contribution to the success and having an exceptional link between all parts of the team.

“As one of our most experienced players, Eddy will continue to lead the way in building another title-winning team.”

According to Fabrizio Romano, the 27-year-old will become one of the club’s highest earners after Leverkusen turned down a reported €40m offer from the Premier League.
