Orange top Griffins by 1

ELIZABETHTOWN — Senior night for the Griffins was spoiled by the Indian Lake/Long Lake’s Griffin Farr, who tossed 15 strikeouts with no walks as they outlasted the Griffins 4-3.

It was quite a pitching duel between AJ Demar and Farr. Demar tossed a five hitter with four strikeouts.

“We stranded the tying and go-ahead runs on second and third in the sixth inning and then the tying run at second in the seventh,” Boquet Valley head coach Don Markwica said. “We hit the ball hard in the seventh, but two nice plays by the second baseman and the left fielder left us empty. Farr was exceptional, keeping us off balance.

“We did have nine hits but just could not get the timely one we needed. (Demar) threw a great game, but we could not back him up in the field as we committed six errors in the game. This was an exciting game, but unfortunately for our seniors, we came up just a bit short.”
