Wakefield Trinity coach Daryl Powell admits he is unsure if Australian hooker Tyson Smoothy will remain at the club beyond the end of this season.
Smoothy, 26, joined Wakefield in 2025 from NRL side Brisbane Broncos, signing a three-year deal until 2028, but it is being reported he wants to return to Australia.
Powell was reluctant to go into detail over Smoothy’s circumstances, but could not say if he would still be at the club next season.
“He had some family stuff for our last game with his little one, and I won’t expand on that,” Powell told BBC Radio Leeds.
“I think Tyson’s settled and he’ll be here for the season. Whether he’s here after that, we’ll talk about that further down the track.
“But he’s here for the rest of the year, he’s pretty settled, he’s enjoying his time at the club, but we’ll see where that goes down the track.”
Smoothy has made nine Super League appearances for Wakefield, scoring two tries.
