Real Madrid prepares Michael Olise deal that will threaten Neymar’s world-record transfer

Real Madrid are reportedly stepping up their efforts to sign Michael Olise.

Michael Olise has been on Real Madrid‘s radar throughout this summer as they aim to launch Jose Mourinho‘s second spell in charge with a marquee signing.

The Spanish giants are in the midst of a summer recruitment spree with four high-profile additions already winging their way to the Bernabeu in a matter of weeks.

Marc Cucurella, Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konate and Denzel Dumfries have all signed up with Los Blancos since president Florentino Perez’s re-election.

However Bayern Munich winger Olise was a cornerstone of Perez’s manifesto to stay in power for a 23rd combined year across two spells in the Spanish capital.

Although the Madrid figurehead did not publicly name the France international, the club has been forced to publicly dispute suggestions of talk with the player’s camp.

Bayern president Herbert Hainer echoed that by insisting the only contact he received from Madrid was to deny allegations of any behind-the-scenes contact.

Hainer also cautioned Perez that he can ‘save himself the effort’ if he did have an offer in mind for Olise amid claims of a €150 million offer to tempt the Bavarians.

But fresh reports suggest that last season’s La Liga runner-up are now planning to put together an eye-watering financial package for the ex-Crystal Palace star.

According to Fichajes, Madrid will table a proposal of €190 million with a further €30 million which would take the deal close to the existing world-record transfer fee.

Neymar continues to hold the title as football’s costliest ever player following his €222 million switch from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain in summer 2017.

Olise is in the throes of his best-ever season with Bayern in which he racked up 25 goals and 28 assists in 57 appearances to win his second Bundesliga title.

The 24-year-old remains in with a strong chance of winning the World Cup after France reached the quarter-final stage, where they will take on Morocco.
