La Liga giants Real Madrid have closed the signing of their next head coach.
This comes amid confirmation that José Mourinho has put pen to paper on his contract to take up the managerial reins in Spain’s capital for the 2nd time.
The Real Madrid brass have of course spent recent weeks working tirelessly to bring in a new tactician with a view to the 2026/27 campaign.
After a tumultuous last 12 months under the combined watch of Xabi Alonso and Álvaro Arbeloa, Florentino Pérez and co. sought out an experienced figure capable of pulling rank in an ego-driven dressing room.
This search ultimately led to the aforementioned Mourinho being singled out as the ideal choice.
Negotiations were in turn kicked into gear to free the Portuguese from his position at the helm of Benfica, ahead of a reunion with his former employers at Real Madrid.
And as alluded to above, this week, these talks have borne fruit.
As per a report from market insider David Ornstein of The Athletic:
‘José Mourinho has signed his contract to become the next head coach of Real Madrid. Mourinho is set to complete a stunning return to the Spanish capital on a deal until June 2029.’
