When Mohamed Salah announced he would be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season many were left wondering who will succeed the Egyptian King.

The additions of Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz last summer could be enough to replace Salah’s output in the long-term, but someone will still need to fill the gap he’ll leave in Arne Slot’s starting XI.

The 33-year-old has been in and out of the team this season, but no clear heir has emerged within the current squad, so Liverpool will more than likely have to turn to the transfer market to find a successor.

Liverpool to accelerate move for Mo Salah replacement

Several top players are reportedly being considered to replace Liverpool’s talisman, with Yan Diomande and Michael Olise among the most exciting players linked.

Bradley Barcola is another top forward who is high up on the Reds’ shortlist, and Anfield Watch confirmed earlier this month that the club are hopeful a deal can be done for the Frenchman this summer.

Now, Spanish outlet Fichajes are reporting that Liverpool are ready to accelerate a move for Barcola, and view the 23-year-old as the top target to replace Salah.

A fee of €100 million (~£87m) is quoted in the report but PSG’s asking price has been reported as low as €71 million (~£61.5m) recently.

If Barcola is made available by the reigning European champions this summer, Liverpool will more than likely be one of the frontrunners for his signature.

Barcola has 19 goal involvements for PSG in all competitions this season and has been deployed across the forward line, although mostly on the left-wing.

The Reds’ interest dates back to before Salah’s departure was confirmed, and the recruitment team at Anfield clearly believe the talented Frenchman would be an excellent addition to Slot’s side.

As the end of the season approaches, the club will be looking to start putting plans into action and so it is no surprise to see more links between Barcola and the Reds emerge.
