Rockets among teams ‘actively monitoring’ Kyrie Irving

After parting ways with former head coach Jason Kidd, many around the league expect the Dallas Mavericks to continue building around young phenom Cooper Flagg. This, of course, could involve trading away nine-time All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving. According to NBA insider Brandon Robinson, many contending teams around the league are monitoring Irving’s status with Dallas throughout the summer.

One of those teams was said by Robinson to be the Houston Rockets. Given the fact that point guard Fred VanVleet is coming off of a torn ACL, the Rockets could look to make a splash by bringing in Irving. Not only that, but Irving has experience playing with 16-time All-Star Kevin Durant, as the two spent two and a half seasons together on the Brooklyn Nets. Although the move would make the Rockets much older, it would certainly boost their status as contenders.
