Seacoast Wednesday Standout: Oyster River sophomore hurls no-hitter

DURHAM – Oyster River High School’s Colin Veroneau is quietly establishing himself as one of the better pitchers in Division II.

The sophomore right-hander pitched his third straight complete game, but this outing against Pelham was special.

Veroneau struck out 12 and didn’t allow a hit as the Bobcats won their 10th straight game, 11-0, and improved to 12-3 on the season. The game was called after five innings due to the 10-run rule.

“He’s just found a little bit of a groove here in the middle of the season and has just dominated,” Oyster River head coach Cam Calato.

The only outs made in the field were a flyball to left field, a groundball to second, and a pop-up to first base. Veroneau had complete-game wins against Kingswood (2-0) and Hollis-Brookline (9-2) in his previous two starts.

“I think this start was right on par with those two,” Calato said. “We roll him out there against these top teams. We trust him and rely on him, and he’s been helping us and doing exactly what we want him to do which is compete in these big games.”
