Seattle Seahawks Assistant General Manager Nolan Teasley was named the Minnesota Vikings new General Manager on Saturday morning. Tom Pelissero was on it first.

Teasley has risen the Seahawks’ personnel department’s ranks under John Schneider’s tenure. He began with a scouting internship in 2013 and worked his way all the way up to his becoming John Schneider’s assistant in 2023, where the team described his job as working “collaboratively with President of Football Operations/General Manager John Schneider in all aspects.”
Teasley isn’t a household name, but Schneider praises him anytime he’s asked about the personnel department. He mentioned Teasley in his first press conference at the NFL Combine in February, along with Senior Director Of College Scouting Aaron Hineline. Hineline might be a name to watch as Teasley’s replacement in the assistant GM role.
Teasley had his hand in a broad range of departments and was right alongside John Schneider, despite only learning things the Seahawk way since an intern. He made it through several rounds of interviews by the Vikings, and just like how Brian Fleury’s chalk talk won him the Seahawks offensive coordinator job, Teasley’s versatility between departments was what Minnesota prioritized when making their new appointment.
As is the standard these days, the Seahawks also walk out of here with a massive deal sweetener. They’ll receive two extra third-round picks, one in each of the next two NFL drafts, because Teasley qualifies for the NFL’s diversity hiring incentive program under the Rooney Rule. He and defensive coordinator Aden Durde attended the NFL’s Coach and Front Office Accelerator hiring program less than two weeks ago. He’s a success story of a franchise taking in an intern, who grew up and attended college in-state, and raising him all the way through their ranks without any clear favors.
The Vikings will be desperate for this after firing Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, and the NFL will compensate the Seahawks- but losing a key piece of the operation in Teasley will be hard to replace over the next five years. The John Schneider tree of influence grew massively within the NFC today, though, and it’ll be interesting to see if the Seahawks make any trades with the Vikings in the coming years.
