See which team FSU men’s basketball will play in Tampa

Florida State basketball is filled with much optimism after a season that saw the Seminoles end the year by taking No. 1-seeded Duke to the brink in the ACC Tournament. The Seminoles are looking to take the next step in 2026-27, and perhaps that’ll start with a new matchup that was just recently announced.

Per Mark Long on social media, the Seminoles and Florida A&M Rattlers will meet in Tampa for their season opener, marking the first time the two have played in the regular season since 1991.

Since 1949-50, the Seminoles have been undefeated against the Rattlers in their lifetime. The last time the two played, whether in the preseason or regular season, was in 2025, when FSU defeated FAMU, 88-54.

In addition, the FSU-FAMU matchup is part of a doubleheader, where the Florida Gators and Miami Hurricanes will also have a season opener matchup in Tampa.

Florida A&M is led by former FSU two-sport phenom Charlie Ward, and the Seminoles will look to get off on the right foot against the Rattlers this upcoming season.
