See who won Happy State Bank High School Athlete of the Week vote

Amarillo High girls doubles team Olivia Hefley/Sara Shelhamer were voted Happy State Bank Girls High School Athlete of the Week for May 4-9.

Hefley and Shelhamer claimed the Class 5A girls doubles state championship with a three-set win against Frisco Wakeland.

They received 10,151 of the 16,320 votes cast for Athlete of the Week, which was 62.2% of total votes.

Meanwhile, Randall mixed doubles tandem of Jensen Betzen/Kynley Craddock were also voted the Happy State Bank High School Athletes of the Week.

Gibson was 2-for-3 with a walk-off solo home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to take down West Plains 1-0.

They received 138 of the 16,320 votes cast for Athlete of the Week.

Students in all varsity sports are eligible and can only be named Athlete of the Week one time per season, per sport, and athletes from one school cannot win more than three consecutive weeks.

Nominations are due by 5 p.m. each Saturday and can be submitted through email at sports@amarillo.com.

Please include statistics from the week’s games and any pertinent information or honors. Voting runs through Thursday each week.
