We asked for your views as Liverpool’s difficult season finished with a 1-1 draw with Brentford.

Here are some of your comments:

Jack: Relieved that this painful season is over, it just makes it more crushing we couldn’t even send two of our greatest players off with a win, let alone a trophy. I do genuinely wonder if Salah leaving might allow Slot to relax his worries about public complaints from players. It’s been a frustrating season but let’s hope that we can fix our struggles by the start of next season and can get the Liver bird back on its perch.

Ruth: My club forever and always. Support them when they are winning and support them harder when they don’t. I am giving Slot the benefit of the doubt as this season has had so many issues outside of his control. We are not one of those teams that swap and change and I am old enough to remember Klopp’s first season too.

Roger: A hugely disappointing season for various reasons which have all been well documented. It says everything when the only player to have won anything this season was Harvey Elliott – and he hardly ever played on loan at Villa! If Slot stays, he knows a repeat of this season will not be tolerated.

Nick: Average, at best, again. If you look at Sunday’s starting line-up alone for Liverpool, yes Salah and Robertson are going, but, depending on reports, so are/could Alisson, Mac Allister, Jones, Gomez, and Konate (seeing as there’s still no contract agreement). That’s a huge overhaul, again, even before you get to squad players and those returning from loan. Another crazy, hectic summer. This time, however, it’s an incredibly short leash.

Ian: Yet again so many missed chances, I lost count how many corners Liverpool had, 14 I think, and they didn’t make any of them count. Our midfield is so weak, Brentford kept going through it like it didn’t exit. There were not as many defensive fumbles as there usually is. The 25-26 season is now put to bed, let’s hope next season proves to be a massive improvement.

Wesley: This season and Sunday’s performance unfortunately took away from both Salah and Robertson leaving after having been so successful with the club. Slot has to go – we can’t afford to start another season with him having set the agenda!
