Social media reacts to Alabama’s comeback win vs. UCLA in WCWS

On Thursday night, the Alabama Crimson Tide opened play at the 2026 Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City against the No. 8 overall seeded UCLA Bruins.

A game that was among the most anticipated of Thursday’s slate, Alabama-UCLA certainly delivered on the hype it received going in, with the Crimson Tide eventually winning following a late comeback, 6-3.

In the win, Alabama originally claimed an early lead following a Marlie Giles RBI single in the first, but saw UCLA take a lead in the third following back-to-back home runs. The Bruins would remain in control of the lead through the fifth inning until Alexis Pupillo tied the game for Alabama, doing so with a two-run home run.

Alabama later eventually claimed the lead once more in the sixth inning via a three-run home run from Brooke Wells, a decisive swing which secured the win for the Crimson Tide.

In addition to Wells and Pupillo, both of Jena Young and Audrey Vandagriff impressed offensively by combining for five hits, while Jocelyn Briski went the distance in the circle. Briski recorded nine strikeouts, and made essentially only two mistakes via the home runs.
