The reason for beach volleyball’s popularity lies in the nature of its workout. The players are constantly jumping, sprinting, and maintaining their balance on the sandy surface. The jumping and sprinting efforts are three times as costly on sand as they are on regular courts. The workout helps build muscle in the glutes, quads, and core area, hence the muscular-looking lower body in the video.
