Softball: Kenton Ridge, Tri-Village finish season as state poll champs

May 12—Kenton Ridge and Tri-Village remain atop the final state softball rankings of the season.

The last Ohio High School Softball Coaches poll was released Monday. Seven teams from the Miami Valley are featured in the top-5 of their respective divisions.

Kenton Ridge (25-0) came one first-place vote short of being an unanimous No. 1 selection in D-IV. Licking Valley received the other first place vote and KR appeared second on that ballot. Both teams are undefeated this season.

Tri-Village (17-4) received seven of the 12 first place votes in the D-VI rankings.

Also getting top-5 state rankings are No. 3 Centerville (20-6) and No. 5 Lakota East (20-5) in D-I, No. 2 Greenville (24-1) in D-III, and No. 3 Shawnee (24-3) and No. 4 Miami East (19-4) in D-V.

Other teams appearing in the final rankings are No. 10 Lebanon (17-8) in D-I, No. 10 Troy (23-2) in D-II, and No. 6 Talawanda (20-4) and No. 8 Badin (24-2) in D-III and No. 6 Southeastern in D-VI.

District tournament play in Ohio began Monday, May 11.
