The San Antonio Spurs just features Victor Wembanyama as a star but they are comprised of big moving parts. Coach Mitch Johnson ensures that they are properly following schemes in games, Keldon Johnson brings a veteran voice, and Dylan Harper is a youthful scoring contributor off the bench. In fact, Johnson posits that they are lucky that Harper did not fall into an opposing team given his bucket-getting chops in the NBA Playoffs.

Spurs’ Johnson outlines why Harper will be a long-term NBA Playoffs threat

Keldon Johnson has been with the Spurs long enough to see which players will thrive. He is someone who has been trained by Coach Gregg Popovich for years and helps Coach Mitch Johnson with his veteran outlook. So, when he proclaims something about a teammate, it is bound to hold truth. The Spurs’ Sixth Man of the Year got real on why Dylan Harper will be special for many more NBA Playoffs runs to come, via Marcus Thompson II of The Athletic.

“Definitely not something you see every day. I feel like his composure, his skills, his consistency have been unmatched, in my opinion. … To see how young he is, and the potential he has, and how much room he still has to grow. And still being able to affect the game the way he does, and patrol the game, and be a general out there. It’s not normal. So I’m glad to be on his side,” the Spurs veteran declared.

Harper has been quite the intense scoring presence during the NBA Playoffs. In their Game 5 bout against the Timberwolves, Coach Johnson played him for 25 minutes off the bench and he delivered. The Spurs rookie notched 12 points on a 50% clip from the field while also grabbing 10 rebounds. He was also a great all-around presence with two assists, a steal, and a block.

The Spurs have him under contract for four years. Can they come out on top in the NBA Playoffs more than once due to his talents?
