The Pittsburgh Steelers may have hit the jackpot in Aaron Rodgers, not only for what he’ll bring to the offense in 2026, but for how he’ll mentor two young, promising quarterbacks this offseason.
Speaking with reporters during media availability at OTAs, Rodgers made it clear that, while it’s not required, he’s excited to not only develop rookie Drew Allar, but continue mentoring Will Howard as well.
“It’s not in my job description, but I think it’s a great opportunity for sure,” Rodgers said. “To be able to mentor those guys means a lot to me. … I’ll try and mentor Drew as much as he wants me to, and keep staying on Will.”
The Steelers selected Howard with the 185th overall pick in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, and Allar with the 76th overall pick in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
Howard has an advantage over Allar after developing behind Rodgers for an additional year, which will hopefully be on display this offseason as he competes with Mason Rudolph for the QB2 role.
