Awa Fam was touted as a possible No.1 overall draft pick for a reason.

Though that distinction ultimately went to Azzi Fudd, Fam will have few if any complaints about the team that ended up taking her with the third pick.

Fam and the Seattle Storm appear to be a perfect match for one another. The Spanish forward finally made her WNBA debut on Sunday, and few if any will have walked away disappointed.

In 20 minutes off the bench against the Washington Mystics, Fam scored 10 points and added two rebounds and a steal as the Storm eased to a 97-85 win. She had not played in the season’s first six games, over with Seattle mustered just a 2-4 record.

Fam debuted after her team in Spain, Valencia Basket, claimed the Liga Feminina Endesa title last week. The 19-year-old became only the 14th teenager to play a competitive WNBA game — and just the second to score in double-digits on her debut.

Fam is a smooth post scorer who garnered plenty of pre-draft attention for her passing ability and defensive impact.

The Storm’s long-term plan centers on building a dynamic duo in the frontcourt with Fam and Dominique Malonga, who was the second overall pick in the 2025 draft.

If both players reach their potential, Seattle will be a scary team to deal with for a long time.
