Defending national champion Texas Longhorns’ softball team opens its 2026 Women’s College World Series run Thursday with a familiar postseason matchup against the Tennessee Volunteers at Devon Park in Oklahoma City.

The No. 2-seeded Longhorns enter the WCWS seeking a repeat after capturing the program’s first national title last year. First pitch against the No. 7-seeded Lady Volunteers is set for 2:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Texas is making its ninth Women’s College World Series appearance and third straight trip to Oklahoma City, continuing one of the nation’s most consistent runs under coach Mike White.

The Longhorns have reached the WCWS in four of the past five seasons and advanced to the championship series in 2022, 2024 and 2025. Thursday marks the first meeting between the teams since last year’s WCWS, when Texas defeated Tennessee 2-0.
