SAM DAWSON #98
Height: 6’3”
Weight: 300lb
Position: DL
Class: Freshman
Hometown: Crestwood, KY
Summary: Sam joined the Cards earlier this year as part of a solid 2026 high school class that the Cards plan to use to springboard their 2027 high school recruiting, and beyond. As one of 21 players who will hopefully start ‘Chapter 2’ of the Jeff Brohm era, a chapter where he and the staff have had a chance to construct the roster almost entirely with their guys, Dawson looks to add depth along the defensive line after having a great high school career where he but up big numbers across numerous defensive categories, like tackles and tackles for loss. He was nursing a minor injury during spring ball according to sources, so we didn’t get to see him do much in the ‘red and black’ just yet, but he should be back in the mix in the coming months.
Sandwiched between Interstate 71 and Highway 22, just northeast of Louisville sits South Oldham High School. It’s the home of the Dragons, and a stones throw to the $1.50 Costco hotdog off Brownsboro Rd. Speaking of sandwiches and hotdogs, our new friend Sam Dawson has used his early enrollment to add 25lb of ‘beef’ to his frame, and starting to gear up for a collegiate career that we all hope leads to something even bigger than the footlong frank they’re tossing out at the big box warehouse down the road. Cards grabbed a good one with Sam, one to keep an eye on in next couple years.
