The New York Mets had one of the worst opening months in their franchise history. It was so abysmal to watch, that fans resorted to showing up to Citi Field with brown paper bags over their heads, whilst still wearing a jacket.

It is uncommon for the fanbase to give up on this team before the nicer weather comes around.

David Schoenfield of ESPN handed out his grade for the Mets a few days ago, and it is perfect for the month of April. But, things haven’t exactly trickled over into May, as this team is seemingly starting to pick things up.

That “F” is starting to look like a “D” right about now.

Since May 1, in which the Mets beat the Los Angeles Angels 4-3 , they have rattled off three wins out of four games. They took two out of three against the Angels, beat the Colorado Rockies on Monday and then Tuesday’s game got postponed.

Should the Mets beat the Rockies on Wednesday, they will have their second three-game win streak on the season.

Recently, since the calendar switched over, it hasn’t been Juan Soto leading the way, but instead Pete Alonso’s replacement at first base, Mark Vientos. He is on a four-game hitting streak, with seven RBIs over his last five games. Carson Benge has also gotten in on the action, hitting his third home run of the season on Monday.

Can the Mets keep this up and pull off a miraculous May? Heating up this month really puts that abysmal April in the rear-view for the duration of this season.
