Two Tennessee women’s golfers received honorable mention All-America recognition from the Women’s Golf Coaches Association.
Freshman Madison Messimer and sophomore Kyra Van Kan were honored by the organization, which released its All-America teams on Tuesday. They became the 15th and 16th Lady Vols to earn All-America honors in program history.
The two golfers became the first Tennessee players to earn All-America honors since Lady Vols’ assistant coach Anna Newell was named a First-Team All-American as a student-athlete in 2016. 2026 marks the first time since 2015 that the Lady Vols have multiple All-Americans during the same season.
Messimer is also the first freshman to earn All-American recognition since Newell was named a honorable mention All-American in 2015. Messimer was also named to the WGCA Division I All-Freshman Team on Tuesday. The honor is awarded to the top five freshmen during the 2025-26 college golf season.
Van Kan set single-season program records with a 71.00 scoring average and 21 rounds of par or better. The sophomore had six top-10 finishes, including an individual victory in the Paradise Invitational. Van Kan also finished in fifth place at the NCAA championships, the second-best finish by a Lady Vol at the event.
Messimer recorded a 71.11 scoring average and 20 rounds of par or better, passing the single-season records entering the 2025-26 campaign. She had seven top-10 finishes this season, won the Chris Banister Golf Classic and a runner-up finish at the SEC Championships.
Messimer was also named SEC Freshman of the Year. She was a member of the league’s all-freshman team and was a First-Team All-SEC selection.
Van Kan also earned Second-Team All-SEC honors.
