UFC 328: Chimaev vs. Strickland start time

  • Date: Saturday, May 9
  • Time: 9 p.m. ET (7 p.m. ET for prelims) | 6 p.m. PT
  • Location: Prudential Center – Newark, New Jersey

UFC 328 is in the Prudential Center in Newark on May 9. The early prelims start at 5 p.m. ET, while the prelims are at 7 p.m. ET. The main card starts at 9 p.m. ET. The main event should start around 11:30 p.m. ET, depending on how long the undercard fights last.

Chimaev (15-0) is one of the most dangerous fighters in MMA. The Chechen had a rocket strapped to his back in 2020 due to his aggressive style. Health issues following a COVID-19 infection affected his career. Overcoming them, he beat Dricus du Plessis at UFC 319 to win the belt.

Strickland (30-7) beat Israel Adesanya in 2023 for the middleweight title. He’s since gone 2-2 in his last four fights, breaking down Anthony Hernandez in February.

There has been plenty of tension between the former sparring partners. The controversial Strickland is not shy in calling Chimaev every name in the book. With security watching every move both make leading up to the fight, who will walk out of New Jersey in one piece and with gold?

The co-feature will see Joshua Van defend the UFC flyweight title against Tatsuro Taira. It was meant for UFC 327 until Van withdrew due to an injury.

Van (16-2) had quite a 2025, ending it by beating Alexandre Pantoja for the title. The 24-year-old is on a six-fight win streak. Ranked third in the flyweight division, Taira (18-1) is on a two-fight win streak. He took out former champion Brandon Moreno in December to become the top contender.
