UFC 328 results: King Green hands Jeremy Stephens record-setting loss

King Green has made it three in a row, while Jeremy Stephens becomes the fighter with the most losses under the UFC banner.

The pair of 39-year-old veterans kicked off the UFC 328 main card at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. (Paramount+), and it didn’t last very long. Green (35-17-1 MMA, 16-12-1 UFC) handed Stephens (29-23 MMA, 15-20 UFC) a record-setting loss by submission at 4:20 of Round 1.

Green came out in his typical taunting stance with his hands at his hips, looking to draw out strikes from Stephens. Initially, Stephens found success with leg kicks and a few sharp punches, but Green brushed them off and began putting combinations together. A low kick from Green paused the action momentarily, but on the restart, Green continued to pick Stephens apart with sharp strikes.

Green secured a nice takedown and went hard for the finish with heavy ground and pound. Stephens managed to threaten a kimura, but it wasn’t there. Green resumed his ground striking, transitioned to the back, and slapped on a rear-naked choke to get the tap, capping off a wonderful performance. It was Green’s first submission win since submitting Tony Ferguson at UFC 291.

With the win, Green makes it three in a row for the first time since 2020. His current run includes a split decision over Lance Gibson Jr and a TKO of Daniel Zellhuber.

Stephens, who missed weight by four pounds, comes up short in his third UFC stint. He also makes history as the first fighter to reach 20 losses in the UFC. The last MMA fight won by “Lil’ Heathen” came under the PFL banner in a split decision over Myles Price in June 2022.
