NEWARK, N.J. – Alex Pereira sized up his heavyweight opponent on Friday when he faced off with Ciryl Gane before their UFC Freedom 250 interim title fight.
Former light heavyweight and middleweight titleholder Pereira (13-3 MMA, 10-2 UFC) will move up in weight once again and seek history against Gane (13-2 MMA, 10-2 UFC) in the June 14 co-headliner at the White House in Washington, D.C.
Pereira can become the first fighter in UFC history to wear some version of gold in three weight classes, while Gane can join Justin Gaethje as the only names to ever hold an interim belt on two occasions.
Both men were calm and confident as they got a first look at each other, and with razor-close betting odds, it’s an unpredictable setting for both Pereira and Gane.
