The United States Women’s National Team announced on Thursday it will play Brazil for a pair of two matches in the June international window in Brazil.
“I’m so pleased we were able to schedule these games,” said U.S. head coach Emma Hayes in a statement. “We want to play the best teams in the most difficult environments at venues across the world as often as we can, and these two games check all those boxes. We need more games in which every fan in the stadium is cheering loudly against us and I’m looking forward seeing how our team performs and grows in these adverse conditions.”
The USWNT has played Brazil many times across international tournaments and friendlies over the years, holding a 34W-4L-5D all-time record against Brazil. The two sides met in two tournament finals in 2024 with the U.S. coming out on top both times 1-0, first in the Concacaf Women’s Gold Cup and the 2024 Paris Olympics. In their most recent meeting with South American powerhouse in April 2025 both teams came out with a win and a loss.
The two nations hold top spots in FIFA’s world rankings with the U.S. at second and Brazil at sixth.
The match presents a big opportunity for the players and staff to get accustomed to the location and sporting venues of the 2027 FIFA World Cup. The last time the U.S. played in Brazil was the 2016 Summer Olympics, in which the Americans were eliminated via penalties in their first match in the knockout stage against Sweden.
Only four players on the roster for the USWNT that Summer still playing professional soccer: Mallory Swanson, Lindsey Heaps, Morgan Gautrat and Alyssa Naher.
The first match will take place on June 6, at Estadio Neo Química Arena in São Paulo, home of Brazillian powerhouse club Corinthians, and the second on June 9, at Arena Castelão in Fortaleza.
