USC baseball dominates Cal State Fullerton, draws closer to 40 wins

Over the weekend, the USC baseball team swept Rutgers in a three-game series at Dedeaux Field. On Tuesday night, the Trojans looked to continue their dominance at home when they welcomed Cal State Fullerton to Los Angeles for a midweek Southern California matchup.

Once again, USC dominated at Dedeaux. The Trojans scored eight runs in the first two innings and never looked back offensively. Meanwhile, USC’s pitching staff held Fullerton scoreless over the final six innings as the Trojans cruised to a 13-4 victory.

USC now sits at 38-12 on the 2026 season. With six games remaining in the regular season, the Trojans are two victories away from hitting the 40-win threshold. USC has not hit this mark since the late Mike Gillespie’s final NCAA Tournament team more than two decades ago.

Barring a massive collapse down the stretch, USC should win its 40th game in the next two weeks. Given how long it has been for the program, this would mark a major accomplishment for head coach Andy Stankiewicz and the Trojans.

USC will welcome Nevada to Dedeaux Field Thursday through Sunday for its final three home games of the regular season. If the Trojans can take two of three in the series, they will be able to celebrate hitting the benchmark in front of their home fans.
