Washington WR Omari Evans signs undrafted deal with Kansas City Chiefs

Omari Evans is taking his 4.25 speed to Kansas City.

The former Washington wide receiver signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent on Saturday, the ninth Husky to find an NFL destination this weekend. Denzel Boston, Tacario Davis, Jonah Coleman, Carver Willis, Ephesians Prysock, Anterio Thompson, and Zach Durfee were all drafted, while tight end Quentin Moore signed an undrafted deal with the Washington Commanders shortly after the draft.

Evans had 17 receptions for 254 yards and 1 touchdown with the Huskies in 11 games after transferring in from Penn State, where he totaled 30 receptions for 564 yards and 7 touchdowns in three seasons. He missed the first two games of 2025 with a lower-body injury sustained during fall camp.

But his blazing speed at Washington’s pro day drew plenty of attention, driving his teammates into a frenzy on the Dempsey Indoor field and resulting in multiple NFL scouts chatting with Evans after the workout. A school record holder at Shoemaker (TX) in the long jump and part of the school record in the 4×100 meter relay, Evans has rare explosiveness that the Chiefs deemed worthy of making a bet on.

The lack of production in four years in the Big Ten was surely a question for most teams, which is why Evans didn’t hear his name called during the 257 picks of the NFL draft.

But now, he’ll head to Kansas City, which also drafted Cincinnati wideout Cyrus Allen in the fifth round and signed Cincinnati wide receiver Jeff Caldwell as an undrafted free agent, looking to carve out a role catching passes from Patrick Mahomes.
