Be afraid, opposing football-carriers.

While speculation about DeMarcus Lawrence’s potential retirement has been on a smooth, downward slope since the Super Bowl, all fears seem to have been officially laid to rest. The 2025 Seattle Seahawks team leader in forced fumbles and recovered fumbles returned to the field on Thursday.

The team posted a video of Lawrence arriving for OTAs. This marks the 13th NFL season for which he has begun preparation.

“Yeah, he’s on his plan,” Mike Macdonald said on Tuesday when asked about Lawrence. “He’s working through some things. But he’s in great spirits. He’ll be here at some point.”

This is not – as some might call it – ‘new’ news, but let it be an encouragement to the soul of 12s everywhere. Lawrence gave no indication whatsoever in ‘25 that his style of play has yet become hampered. On the contrary, he was highly disruptive last season, being named the best free agent signing of 2025 and tying his career-high Approximate Value per Pro Football Reference.

The Seahawks signed Dante Fowler Jr. in the absence of Boye Mafe, but the team returns Lawrence, Derick Hall, Leonard Williams, and Byron Murphy as one of the most ferocious defensive fronts in the NFL.

Thirteen seasons at defensive end. What a run. Go chase that repeat, Tank.
