After 15 months out of the ring, pound-for-pound great Dmitry Bivol returns to action on May 30, shaking off the rust against little-known mandatory challenger Michael Eifert in his native Russia.
Bivol’s previous outing saw him capture the undisputed light heavyweight titles with a majority decision win over Artur Beterbiev in their February 2025 rematch. While many expected a rubber match to come soon after, with Beterbiev having defeated Bivol the fight prior, Bivol later announced he would be undergoing back surgery, which ultimately sidelined him into 2026.
The belts have since fractured, with David Benavidez claiming the WBC light heavyweight title and making no secret of his desire to challenge Bivol for undisputed. But before turning to the likes of Benavidez or Beterbiev, Bivol must emerge victorious against Eifert, the IBF’s No. 1-ranked contender.
Eifert has fought just twice in the past three years, and not since an August 2024 stoppage in a six-round bout in Germany.
