Former Michigan coach Sherrone Moore was fired following an “inappropriate relationship” with a staff member.

Shortly after his December 2025 firing, he was accused of driving to the woman’s house and threatening self-harm. He was subsequently charged with third-degree home invasion, stalking and entering without permission.

In March 2026, Moore pleaded no contest to two misdemeanors: malicious use of a telecommunications device and trespass. Following his plea deal, Paige Shiver came forward and confirmed she was the woman he was having an affair with.

Shiver spoke about her relationship with Moore, who is married with three children, in an emotional interview with Good Morning America that aired on April 24. Among other topics, Shiver claimed that she became pregnant during their years-long relationship, but she had to terminate the pregnancy due to health complications.

In the months since Moore’s firing and arrest, he has been keeping a low-profile while serving his 18-month probation sentence.

Who is Sherrone Moore?

Before launching his coaching career, Moore played college football at the University of Oklahoma. He went on to join Louisville as a graduate assistant before moving to Central Michigan to work as a tight end coach and later assistant head coach.

In 2018, Moore was hired as a tight end coach with the University of Michigan and was promoted to co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach three years later. Throughout the 2023 season, Moore served as Michican’s acting head coach for various games while then-head coach Jim Harbaugh was suspended for various reasons.

Moore officially became Michigan’s head coach in 2024 and led the team until his 2025 firing.

Moore has been married to his wife, Kelli Moore, since July 2015. The couple share three children: Shiloh, Solei and Sadie.

When did Moore start a relationship with Shiver?

Shortly after Shiver began working as an intern with the University of Michigan in late 2021, she and Moore engaged in a romantic relationship, she alleged in her interview with Good Morning America. Shiver was promoted to his executive assistant upon his promotion in 2024.

Moore and Shiver allegedly continued their relationship until she broke up with him on Dec. 8, 2025, prosecutors claimed. In addition to ending their relationship, Shiver also came forward to the school about their relationship.

On Dec. 10, the University of Michigan fired Moore and said they had “credible” evidence he “engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member.”

“This breach of trust by Coach Moore is painful for many in our community, first and foremost, the individuals directly involved in this situation,” the school’s president, Domenico Grasso, wrote in a statement on Dec. 11. “Yet our swift and decisive action reflects the University’s staunch commitment to a campus culture of respect, integrity and accountability.”

Why was Moore arrested?

Just hours after Moore was fired, he was arrested for an “alleged assault.” Police responded to a home in Ann Arbor, Mich., after a woman called 911 and the dispatcher relayed to police that a “male was at the location in the house attacking her” and that the man had “been stalking her for months.”

Moore was arrested and charged with third-degree home invasion, stalking and entering without permission. Prosecutors later alleged at his Dec. 12 arraignment that the victim, whom Shiver later confirmed was her, broke up with him and began receiving unwanted texts and calls from him.

Moore went on to “allegedly unlawfully enter[ed] the dwelling of a victim with whom Mr. Moore had a dating relationship,” and allegedly threatened self-harm.

On March 6, 2026, Moore pleaded no contest to counts of malicious use of a telecommunications device and trespass in a plea agreement that allowed for the other, more serious, charges to be dropped. Moore was sentenced to 18 months of probation on April 14, with the judge warning him that “all bets are off” if he violates his terms. He was additionally fined $1,000.

Shiver identified herself after Moore took the plea deal and condemned the sentencing. She alleged, through her lawyers, that she suffered “manipulation, harassment, and exploitation” from Moore.

“The power imbalance between a powerful head coach and a subordinate employee created an environment where our client felt pressured, intimidated, and unable to escape conduct that should never occur in any workplace—let alone at a public university,” the attorneys wrote in a statement.

What have Moore and Shiver said about their relationship?

In the months since his firing and arrest, Moore has not publicly addressed either incident. Bodycam footage of his arrest later surfaced via TMZ and showed Moore crying while asking for his wife.

Ahead of his sentencing, Moore briefly shared a statement with the judge and thanked his “beautiful wife, Kelli, for her support and strength to stand by me.”

“I’ve taken this process very seriously,” he told the judge.

Meanwhile, Shiver opened up about her years-long relationship with Moore and the subsequent fallout in an interview with Good Morning America that aired on April 24.

“Here’s a man that had complete control over me,” Shiver claimed. “Over my emotions, over my career. And he knew that and he used it against me.”

She continued, “He always had a story, always had a way to pull me in and making me feel that I couldn’t leave him because he was so miserable without me.”

Shiver further claimed that she got pregnant while they were romantically involved. However, she alleged that she had to terminate the pregnancy after doctors advised her that a genetic heart problem could cause health complications for the fetus.

“Multiple doctors and experts told me that it wouldn’t be right or healthy for me to keep the baby,” she explained, while confirming that she originally wanted to welcome the child.

Shiver alleged that Moore knew about the pregnancy and told her to “do what’s right for your body.”

While reflecting on their years-long relationship, Shiver said she thought she was in love with Moore but has since felt differently.

“Back then, I did, but obviously looking back at things and really reflecting on what happened, what was happening, that’s not love at all,” she said. 

Where is Sherrone Moore now?

Moore is currently serving 18 months of probation. In addition to his probation period, he was also ordered to continue mental health treatment, avoid alcohol and marijuana and not contact Shiver, per NBC News.

Moore attended his sentencing with Kelli, whom Washtenaw County District Court Judge J. Cedric Simpson specifically pointed out during the hearing.

“In my opinion, the person, quite frankly, Mr. Moore, that is saving you from the full wrath of this court is the one you betrayed,” Simpson told Moore. “I don’t know where your wife, Kelli finds her strength.”
