Another thrilling North Carolina softball season concludes this week with the state championship series at Duke and UNC Greensboro.
The East and West region champions will face off in eight best-of-three series for the first time after the NCHSAA doubled the number of classifications from four. Two of last year’s four state champions return to the finals in different classifications, with West Wilkes (2A last year) facing McMichael for the 3A title and South Caldwell (4A) meeting Union Pines in the 6A final.
The must-see matchup will be in 7A, where two nationally ranked teams face off for a title. Weddington (25-0) is ranked 15th by MaxPreps and seeking its first state championship. The Warriors will face a 25-2 D.H. Conley team ranked 17th in the country.

The NCHSAA softball championship series will not air on traditional television but fans can stream every game live on the NFHS Network.

North Carolina high school softball championships schedule 2026
NCHSAA softball championship series are best-of-three, with Game 1 the first day and Games 2 and 3 (if necessary) the following day. This year the 1A, 2A, 5A and 6A championships will be played at Duke’s softball stadium in Durham, while the 3A, 4A, 7A and 8A finals are at UNC Greensboro.
