OKLAHOMA CITY – Tennessee softball is going to the Women’s College World Series semifinals for the third time in the last four seasons after beating Texas Tech on May 30.
The No. 7 seed Lady Vols (49-10) won 2-1 over No. 11 seed Texas Tech (58-8) at Devon Park on May 30 in their second game of the WCWS. Tennessee will advance to the semifinals without falling to the losers bracket for the first time since 2013, which is the last time it played in the WCWS finals.
Tennessee will play the team that makes it out of the losers bracket in the semifinals on June 1 (noon ET, ESPN).
The Lady Vols have made a run to the WCWS semifinals in two of the past three seasons. They were eliminated by the Longhorns last year in a 2-0 loss.
