As June approaches, college softball is about to take center stage.
The Women’s College World Series is one of the most exciting events in college sports, as the best softball teams in the country descend on Oklahoma City to play for the title. The weeklong event is full of thrills and heartbreak, as only one team can come away as the national champion.
This weekend, 16 teams are playing in the Super Regional round, as half of those teams will earn the right to play in the Women’s College World Series. Those three-game series also help determine the bracket for the final event after a grueling battle through the first two rounds of the postseason.
Here’s everything about which teams have clinched their spot in the 2026 Women’s College World Series field.
Who is in the Women’s College World Series in 2026?
No. 7 Tennessee
The Lady Volunteers were the first team to punch their ticket to the Women’s College World Series by sweeping Georgia in the Super Regionals. Tennessee beat the Bulldogs 3-1 in the first game and 2-1 in the second game, avoiding a deciding Game 3 to earn a trip to Oklahoma City.
Tennessee went 47-10 in the regular season and 16-8 in the SEC but fell to Ole Miss in the second round of the SEC tournament. Since then, Tennessee has won five straight games, allowing just one run in four of the five contests. The Lady Volunteers’ pitchers are the anchors of the team, as Erin Nuwer, Sage Mardjetko, and Karyn Pickens are among the best pitchers in the conference.
College World Series bracket 2026
Eight teams will participate in the Women’s College World Series, as they will be split up into four groups to compete in the double-elimination tournament. The winners from Bracket 1 and the winner from Bracket 2 will eventually play in a best-of-three tournament to decide a national champion.
