There is an argument that regardless of how Adell’s throw or the relay throw goes, Ohtani still has a chance of scoring; it is a totally reasonable judgment from the MLB scorer.

This would have been his first-ever inside-the-park home run, but instead, he is still searching for his first.

Considering his speed and hitting ability, there is a chance that he can still get better later on in his career.

There is some luck involved in an inside-the-park home run, and even as great as Ohtani is, there is a chance that it never happens for him.
