Ronda Rousey made her return to the cage in the main event of Netflix’s first MMA broadcast at the Intuit Dome on Saturday, May 16.
Rousey’s submission victory over Gina Carano was her first in an official MMA capacity since Dec. 30, 2016.
The former UFC champion had won 12 consecutive fights before losing her last two fights. Rousey lost a women’s bantamweight title bout to Amanda Nunes, who delivered a series of successful punches to the face in the first round at UFC 207.
The question that remains is whether Rousey will return to the cage again and extend her career.
When will Ronda Rousey fight next?
Rousey made her intentions clear this week that she is not expected to fight again.
“I’m having some babies after this,” Rousey said during a press conference on Thursday.
The Riverside native has two children with Travis Browne. The couple’s first child was born in September 2021 and the second was born in January 2025.
“I will present her with options, if they exist and I’m sure she and Travis will talk about it,” Most Valuable Promotions co-founder Nakisa Bidarian said during the broadcast on Saturday. “Ronda Rousey has a role with MVP, whether that’s as a fighter.”
Will Ronda Rousey return to pro wrestling?
Rousey is not expected to make a full-time return to pro wrestling.
Rousey pursued a wrestling career, starting in 2018 and having her last WWE match in August 2023, losing to Shayna Baszler in Detroit.
She would have her final match later that year in a tag team match with Marina Shafir for Ring of Honor. She made a brief appearance in All Elite Wrestling, where she confronted Toni Storm and essentially promoted her fight with Carano.
