Will the pick of QB Drew Allar impact the decision of Aaron Rodgers?

We all expected the Pittsburgh Steelers to select a quarterback in the 2026 NFL Draft and on Friday night it happened. With the team’s first of three third-round picks the Steelers selected Penn State quarterback Drew Allar. This gives the Steeler a talented young quarterback to compete with second-year signal caller Will Howard but will this new addition impact Aaron Rodgers’ decision to re-sign?

Steelers quarterbacks coach Tom Arth said he doesn’t believe the selection of Allar will have any impact on Rodgers. This is the only thing he could say but given Rodgers’ flare for the dramatic, we wouldn’t be at all shocked if he was burned by this addition and the prospect of not only being the starter this season but being expected to mentor two young quarterbacks.

We assume Rodgers’ love of money and love of football will eventually bring him to the Steelers, but we won’t be shocked if he now waits until mandatory minicamp, like he did last season.
