The Giannis Antetokounmpo trade rumors connecting the Greek Freak to the Boston Celtics just do not seem to want to go away. But senior ESPN reporter Brian Windhorst is not sensing much fire to the proverbial smoke when it comes to bona fide interest in such a move by all rumored parties.
Speaking on ESPN Cleveland, Windhorst downplayed the recent rumor recurring this week following some speculation of interest in Boston from Antetokounmpo from Ringer founder Bill Simmons on his eponymous podcast later confirmed by the Stein Line founder Marc Stein. Windhorst made a point of relating he has not heard much about any such move in a way that makes him thinks there is traction.
“I know some people are linking him to Boston, but I have not heard that Giannis, Boston, and Milwaukee are serious about it,” said the ESPN reporter.
“That’s out there, but I haven’t heard it,” he reiterated, making a point of noting that this does not necessarily mean there is no interest — just that this well-sourced senior reporter has not caught wind of anything to that effect.
“I’m not saying it hasn’t happened,” said Windhorst. “I haven’t heard it.”
