The moment was scary for the Dallas Wings and for fans of Paige Bueckers.

She leaped to try and block a shot from Rhyne Howard on Friday night, but she got caught over Howard’s body at an odd angle and slammed down to the court.

Bueckers stayed down for a while and needed medical attention.

Somehow, after walking off clearly distraught, she ended up coming back to the game.

Fans speculated on a potential concussion, which admittedly is a tricky thing to speculate about. But those who felt that’s what happened certainly weren’t happy that Bueckers returned to the game:

Bueckers had her worst WNBA game in total, which could not have been helped by whatever pain she may have been feeling from the hard fall.

It’s worth noting, too, that Bueckers has dealt with concussion concerns in the past. As a rookie, she missed time while going through concussion protocol.

Concussions are injuries that conceptually recur more easily if you’ve already had them before, so that’s a concern with Bueckers.

It also raises the point of extra caution when dealing with something like that with Bueckers. The training staff must’ve felt that it was clear there was no such damage, because otherwise Bueckers returning to the game would be quite risky and wrong.

Still, fans will be watching the Wings’ injury reports closely in the coming days.
