The New York Yankees are the top team in the American League this year so far, entering the month of May. While Aaron Judge and Ben Rice are two big reasons why, the pitching staff is a huge reason for the success this season.

And in the rotation, Cam Schlittler’s emergence as an ace has helped the Yankees become even better than before. He’s performing as well as ever, and could be in store for a great month of May.

Bleacher Report’s Zachary D. Rymer is predicting Schlittler will have a crazy May, as he was named alongside Paul Skenes and Tyler Glasnow as two pitchers who could throw a no-hitter this month.

Cam Schlittler predicted to be 1-of-3 SP who could throw no-hitter in May

“It’s a solid environment for a no-hitter, and the smart money is on Paul Skenes, Tyler Glasnow, and Cam Schlittler,” Rymer writes. “The first two are expected batting average standouts, while Schlittler is just plain nasty.”

In modern Major League Baseball, no-hitters are significantly rarer. Not only is a no-hitter hard on its own, but most pitchers rarely even get a chance to pitch into the eighth or ninth inning, let alone do so with a no-hitter on the line.

Parker Messick got into the ninth this year with a no-hitter, but it was broken up on the first batter of the inning. But this May, Rymer is predicting there will be a no-hitter, and Schlittler was one of the pitchers he believes can do it.

He has a 1.51 ERA with a 4-1 record this season, and two starts ago went eight innings on the road against the Boston Red Sox, allowing four hits and two runs.

It won’t be easy for Schlittler to put up a no-hitter, but he has the elite ability to shut down offenses, and if he can face a weaker lineup or just have the best start of his career, it’s not out of the question that Schlittler could have a no-hitter this month.

His first chance will come against the Baltimore Orioles on May 4th. He is then projected to face the Milwaukee Brewers, New York Mets, and Toronto Blue Jays.

Schlittler might have two more chances to close out May with matchups against either the Tampa Bay Rays, Kansas City Royals, or Athletics on the table.

It won’t be easy at all, but Schlittler is one of the best pitchers in the sport right now, and as Rymer noted, he’s a nasty pitcher who, alongside Skenes and Glasnow likley has the best chance to pitch a no-hitter this month.
