Injuries are always going to be a problem for certain players on the New York Yankees, and it’s just something that we have to deal with at this point. Unfortunately, the Yankees have found that out all too much over the past few years with Giancarlo Stanton.

Stanton is one of the better hitters on this roster and has definitely been the best player in the postseason since his arrival in New York, but the injury bug has definitely been a major problem. It’s an unfortunate reality and something the Yankees just have to deal with regarding the 36-year-old.

The Yankees got some more bad news about the slugger on Monday, with reports now indicating that he hasn’t been able to run just yet. Stanton has been able to continue hitting, but it doesn’t sound like the calf strain is getting a whole lot better.

“Giancarlo Stanton will undergo testing today to gauge healing in his strained right calf, Aaron Boone said. He has been able to continue hitting but is not running,” Bryan Hoch of MLB.com wrote.

Stanton’s running is a somewhat big hurdle here.

I know that most people will say that he doesn’t really run even when he’s healthy, but the Yankees absolutely can’t have him not running at full speed before he returns to the field. The last thing they want is to make a small injury a big one, and these are what those can become.
