The Cleveland Guardians might not have the most high-flying offense in the Major Leagues, but they might have the most underrated and great infielder of the last decade-plus in Jose Ramirez.

He’s a future Hall of Famer and is a Guardians legend who is etching his name in the history books this season. Ramirez is already making history, but he’s closing in on something even more outstanding.

As Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report highlighted, Ramirez is just nine homers away from reaching 300 homers and 300 stolen bases for his MLB career, which would make him the eighth player to do so in MLB history.

“He is also presently at 291 career home runs, likely to reach 300 in that department before the All-Star break,” Miller writes. “Once he gets there, Ramirez will become the eighth all-time member of the 300/300 club.”

Ramirez hitting 300 homers in his career would be a feat many MLB legends have accomplished, though it would still be an incredibly impressive feat, just not too rare.

But reaching 300 stolen bases along with hitting 300 homers is something that only seven other players have accomplished in MLB history.

Barry Bonds, Willie Mays, Andre Dawson, Bobby Bonds, Reggie Sanders, Steve Finley, Alex Rodriguez, and Carlos Beltran are the only players to accomplish this feat in MLB history.

Hitting 300 homers is hard enough on its own, but to have the base-stealing ability to clear 300 steals as well is an incredibly difficult skill-set to find.

Ramirez already has the stolen bases down and is just nine homers from reaching 300 for his career, which he should be able to reach this season.

But Ramirez could do something even more impressive in the coming years. If he can reach 340 homers and 340 stolen bases, he’d join only Barry Bonds as the players to achieve those thresholds in a career.

Ramirez is an MLB legend and certainly a future Hall of Famer. And if he can reach this 300/300 mark this season, he will only further cement his legacy as one of the best players in MLB history.
