Final 2025-26 Philadelphia 76ers player grades: Trendon Watford

The 2025-26 season is in the books for the Philadelphia 76ers, which means it is the time to look back on the season that was for each player. The Sixers finished 45-37 and as the No. 7 seed for the Eastern Conference playoffs before upsetting the Boston Celtics in Round 1 and falling to the New York Knicks in Round 2. They had to battle through a tough season injury-wise, but there were some good moments for everybody on the roster.

Up next in this series is Trendon Watford who had an up-and-down first season in Philadelphia. He played in 53 games, playing 16.3 minutes per night, and he was in and out of the rotation all season. He make his mistakes, for sure, but the Sixers received solid play out of the 5-year man every time he was out there. He provided versatility and another strong ball-handler out on the floor.

Watford’s season overview

Watford gave the Sixers what they were looking for, which is somebody who could grab a rebound and immediately start a break. It was a big help for Philadelphia on numerous occasions and it made life easier for Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, and others when he was on the floor. The big issues for Watford were his lack of a 3-point shot and he had struggles with his defensive work at times as he continued to grow as a player. Either way, the Sixers enjoyed his versatility every time he stepped on the floor.

He was a bit player in the playoffs as he mostly played in garbage time, but Watford was able to give the Sixers a lot of intangibles. He was a fantastic teammate and a great presence in the locker room as Philadelphia was able to have a lot of chemistry with him being a part of it.

Final grade

Overall, Watford was what the Sixers expected. He made a difference at times, had some struggles, but in his defense, he dealt with a number of injuries and that limited him at times. One has to wonder if he would find more comfortability in the 2026-27 season with a full year under his belt and with a clean bill of health.

Final grade: B-minus
