Commanders named a top landing spot for wide receiver Tyreek Hill

Washington Commanders general manager Adam Peters made several changes to the defense during the offseason, but fewer changes were made to the offense. The defense needed more help; this is true, but it would have been prudent for Peters to find another wide receiver who could balance out the field for Jayden Daniels.

Terry McLaurin is the unequivocal WR1 for the Commanders, and no matter who they bring in, that’s not going to change. At least not in 2026. But not bringing in anyone and relying on rookie Antonio Williams, or some of the unproven receivers they currently have, may not be the best game plan.

There has been talk about Brandon Aiyuk, but that situation is quickly turning into a dumpster fire. Another player who remains a free agent today is former Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill. A recent article by CBS Sports named the Commanders as one of the places Hill could land before the season starts.

Jayden Daniels needs a reliable No. 2 option to complement two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Terry McLaurin. Deebo Samuel was never a burner, and he remains a free agent after leading the Commanders in catches (72), receiving yards (727) and receiving touchdowns (five) in 2025. Hill could be an ideal depth threat in 2026, and someone 2026 third-round pick Antonio Williams could stand to learn from.

No one can argue with what Hill has done on the field over his career. He’s a dynamic and talented receiver with accolades and awards, and he still holds NFL records. However, Hill is coming off a torn ACL. He hasn’t passed a physical, and he’s likely to start on the PUP list for whoever signs him. Okay, that’s not a guarantee, but at 32, it’s likely.

Aside from that, Hill has some serious character questions. He’s been accused of domestic violence on multiple occasions and was under investigation for an incident in which his three-year-old son sustained a broken arm. Those character concerns make him an unlikely fit for GM Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn.

Washington’s interest in Hill is likely low. If Hill sees the field in 2026, the most likely scenario seems like a return to Kansas City, where he spent the first six years of his NFL career.
