Curtis Jones priority shared as Inter Milan reignite their interest

Curtis Jones‘ Liverpool future has been on thin ice ever since Arne Slot became the man at the helm.

The Dutchman has hardly played the Jurgen Klopp favourite and, when he has, he’s often been used out of position at right-back.

Despite this, whenever Jones has been used in his actual position, he’s been one of the Reds’ best players and has helped turn games around in an instant.

But, since the 2026-27 season is the final year of his current contract, it’s unclear whether he’ll sign a new one if he’s not guaranteed the playing time he deserves.

This is why several clubs have shown an interested in signing him with Inter Milan now reigniting their interest.

Rumours have been flying about ever since they made their initial offer in January and now, Jones’ priority for the summer window has been revealed.

Curtis Jones wants to join Inter Milan this summer

Even though change is afoot at Liverpool, it seems like Jones still doesn’t believe that he’ll be played as much as he deserves to be next season.

Throughout the 2025-26 campaign, Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch and Florian Wirtz have all been chosen over the Englishman.

And now, Jones has clearly had enough with Fabrizio Romano [via Anfield Index] sharing that the Englishman’s priority this summer is to exit L4 and join Inter.

“On the Anfield Index Pro Plus special, host Dave Davis placed Curtis Jones firmly inside Liverpool’s summer transfer conversation, with Inter Milan’s interest now part of the wider picture around squad change, midfield balance and contract risk,” they wrote.

“The focus was clear, Jones has one year remaining on his Liverpool deal, Inter are keen, and the numbers being discussed have already provoked a strong reaction.

“Davis said the latest uncertainty came from ‘everything that’s come up around Curtis Jones in what the last two days,’ before referencing Fabrizio Romano’s report that ‘Curtis Jones been prioritizing a move to Inter for months’ and that there had been initial contact between the two clubs last night.”

Arne Slot cannot let Curtis Jones leave Liverpool

Although Slot may not rate Jones as highly as some of his peers, the fact that he’s considering letting the Englishman leave is a joke.

Jones brings a different level of energy to the Reds’ team than anyone else with only Szoboszlai close to matching his work rate.

Granted, the fact that he’s been used as a right-back is probably one of the main reasons behind his desire to exit but, if Mac Allister or even Szoboszlai end up leaving this summer, there’s going to be a fair few gaps for Richard Hughes and Slot to fill.

And, since they’re already letting three of their best players leave for nothing, it’s unclear how much money the Anfield outfit will actually have to spend.

As mentioned, Jones is in the final year of his contract which means that whichever club comes in for him knows that they’ll be able to negotiate a small fee for his transfer.

There already so many moving parts for the Reds to deal with this summer and, if Jones does leave, it’ll just make their job even worse.

Here’s hoping that Slot comes to his senses and tries to figure out a way to get the Englishman into his starting XI on a more regular basis.
