After Germany’s 4-0 win against Finland on Sunday, Deniz Undav was asked if he gave a good argument to be in the starting lineup for the upcoming World Cup. His response (as recorded @iMiaSanMia), “That’s for the coach to decide. I did my job well today and last time.”
Against Finland, Undav opened the scoring for Germany in the 34th minute and assisted Wirtz shortly after halftime to double the lead. He added a second goal to make it 3-0 in the 57th minute. He left the match moments later with a minor knock. The two goals and assist was a great follow up to his last Germany appearance where scored the late winning goal against Ghana.
Undav had a great season with VfB Stuttgart. He scored 25 goals and recorded 14 assists across all competitions, helping his team make it to a second consecutive DFB-Pokal final and a fourth place Bundesliga finish, qualifying for next season’s Champions League.
