Are the 2026 playoffs the last ride for LeBron James in the NBA? One future Hall of Famer thinks so.
The Los Angeles Lakers superstar is 41 years old, but he’s pushed the Purple and Gold to a commanding 3-1 series lead after they were heavily picked as underdogs against the Houston Rockets.
While much remains undecided — the Lakers and Rockets series isn’t even over yet, with Game 5 set for Wednesday night — James is rumored to be extending his career for another season.
Whether that’s in Los Angeles, Cleveland, San Francisco or elsewhere, no one is sure, but one longtime rival thinks James could actually call it quits after this season ends.
Draymond Green ‘would not be surprised’ if LeBron James retires
Appearing on the “Post Moves with Candace Parker & Aliyah Boston” podcast, Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors expressed some doubt that James plays after this season.
“This may be the last time we see this,” he said. “LeBron could retire after this year. I would not be surprised if he retired.”
So does Green have inside information? It’s possible, but it’s also possible that the noted trash talker and podcast host could be stirring the pot.
Either way, only time will tell, but it seems another season for LeBron James is no foregone conclusion.
