HILL DICKINSON STADIUM, LIVERPOOL – Manchester City are once again playing catch-up in the Premier League title race as they visit Everton.

Pep Guardiola’s men went top of the table on goals scored when they beat Burnley 1-0 in their most recent league match on April 22. Arsenal have played two Premier League games in the interim period, as City dealt with an FA Cup semifinal date against Southampton, and have won them both.

There is therefore little margin for error as Pep Guardiola’s side face up to their first trip to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Everton are winless in three matches, but the congested nature of this season’s Premier League table means a first win over City since January 2017 would put them firmly in the hunt for a European place.

Everton vs. Man City team news

Everton team news

  • Having discovered some form, Beto suffered a head injury against Liverpool a couple of weeks ago and missed out last week due to concussion protocols, but he should return.
  • The Toffees are also without Jarrad Branthwaite, who was forced off through injury against the Reds and his season is over.
  • Manchester City loanee attacking midfielder Jack Grealish is also unavailable for the rest of this season due to injury. He would have been ineligible tonight in any case.

Man City team news

  • Man City rotated last weekend but they should return to more or less a full-strength side with Gianluigi Donnarumma, Abdukodir Khusanov, Marc Guehi, Nico O’Reilly, Jeremy Doku, Antoine Semenyo and Erling Haaland to come back in.
  • 2024 Ballon d’Or winner Rodri remains a doubt and it could well be that Wembley hero Nico Gonzalez partners Bernardo Silva in the middle of the park.
  • In defence, Josko Gvardiol remains sidelined for the hosts, with Ruben Dias also still a doubt as he works his way back to full fitness.
