The UEFA Champions League final last night saw Paris Saint-Germain crowned the kings of Europe for the second straight season, and they are now within touching distance of Real Madrid’s three-peat record.
While the game in itself was not the most entertaining, the Parisiens got the job done in the penalty shootout in Budapest.
Needless to say, the Puskas Arena was filled with celebrity presences and notable legends of both Arsenal and PSG on the night. Notably, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez was also in the stands, and with a clear objective in mind.
Promise delivered
As reported by Diario AS in a recent update, Perez was seated with UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin during the UCL final, and his meeting with the official was anything but coincidental.

After all, Perez went to Budapest with the clear idea of delivering on the promise he made to the Real Madrid fanbase earlier in the week – to raise the Negreira issue to the next level.
During his meeting with the UEFA president, Perez informed him of the 500-page report that Real Madrid have compiled over three years that include the refereeing scandals, Barcelona’s involvement, and even the decisions that have gone against Real Madrid.
In that sense, Perez delivered on what he promised by escalating the matter to UEFA, and the delivery of the report will happen immediately after the election as matters stand.
A nonchalant approach
While Perez’s presidency is being challenged for the first time since 2006, the Real Madrid president does not seem too perturbed by the developments.

In fact, he has not taken any open steps of announcing a manifesto, signing or appointments, and trusts that the merit of his presidency will carry him to another term.
Such is Perez’s confidence that while Enrique Riquelme promises the moon and stars to the club members, the current president is planning for next season as if no election being held at all. He is, after all, the massive favourite to win.
