Colombia vs Ghana: World Cup 2026 Preview

Colombia performed adequately rather than spectacularly in Group K. Nestor Lorenzo’s side were a perfect example of getting the job done: relatively comfortable win against Uzbekistan in their World Cup debut, one-goal win over DR Congo, point against Portugal to guarantee top spot in a game they dominated.

The second and third games should set them up nicely for this round of 32 game. Some teams reached this point without breaking sweat or facing opponents tough enough to be described as a proper test.

Daniel Munoz got a rest against Portugal but scored against Uzbekistan and DR Congo, while Luis Diaz is the sort of character to step up in knockout football.

Ghana also had it tough in the group stage. The Black Stars, coached by one-time Colombia boss Carlos Queiroz now at his sixth World Cup, held England to a goalless draw and were narrowly beaten 2-1 by Croatia.

Their obduracy against the Three Lions will be of concern to Colombia. Yet Ghana have struggled in an attacking sense, scoring just twice in Group L. Antoine Semenyo, their brightest hope, has been quiet thus far and must step up.

FourFourTwo’s prediction

Colombia 2-1 Ghana

FourFourTwo predicts that this will go to extra-time, but Colombia will go through by hook or by crook.
